No eggnog for me since giving up dairy. I think that this is the perfect substitute. I could drink this all year round!
Cardamom Eggnog (Vegan)
2 cups almond milk
¼ cup pitted dried dates (tightly packed)
1 sliced frozen banana
¼ cup cashews
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. cardamom
¾ tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. prepared irish moss (optional)
- Put all ingredients in a blender and mix until creamy and smooth.
- Makes about 3 cups.

Yum!! I might try that – even though I *can* do dairy, I have to take a lactaid tablet with it. 😦
Hope you do try it! It is yummy!
No fun taking tablets 😦
I’ll have to try this! I’ve been experimenting with steamed milk and spiced smoothies lately, and this seems like a variation on some of my favourite ingredients. I’m not a traditional egg nog fan at all, but this I could enjoy!
I have a confession to make.. I’ve never had eggnog! I was always freaked out about drinking raw eggs so I never tried it. I never have to worry about it with this recipe though, it sounds so much better than the traditional way!
Thanks for the yummy recipe and thanks even more for linking it up to Smoothie OTW. Hope you’ll join up again soon!
Yummy!! sounds like a yummy smoothy to me… 🙂

Thank you for sharing this with us this week on MMM link up party! I cant drink dairy so this is on my list to make this year! I will be sharing it on my FB page this evening too!
Thank you 🙂
What a cool recipe Marianne! I made a carrot nog last year that was pretty good, but I love the sound of this as well (especially with the cardamom). 🙂
Thank you Lauren 😀 I love using cardamom. It’s fun discovering “new” things!

I think we will be trying this recipe this month. I don’t know that I will be able to get the irish moss but it sure looks like an interesting substance. So many options out there if you can’t have the traditional ones.
Thanks for sharing at Healing With Food Friday.
